Why is SHIF lower than the old NHIF?
SHIF replaced NHIF at 2.75% of gross (no cap). For employees earning below KES 61,800 the old NHIF cap of KES 1,700 meant they paid more. SHIF is lower for those earners.
What is contracted-out NSSF?
An arrangement where Tier I is remitted to NSSF and Tier II goes to an approved private occupational pension fund (e.g. ICEA Lion, Britam). Requires formal NSSF exemption approval.
Does Ledra store my data?
No. All calculations and payroll data exist only in your browser session. Closing the tab clears everything. No data leaves your device.
How do I use the bulk import?
Download the CSV or Excel template from the Bulk Import tab. Fill in your employee data — Emp_No, Surname, and Basic are required. For NSSF_Type use: full, contracted, or old.
